| In September
2002, accommodators, tour operators and other tourism-related enterprises
joined forces to promote our island and incorporated the |
|
Atiu
Tourism Society Inc..
|
|
Currently, the
society has 24 members from all sectors of tourism related enterprise.
The Cook Islands Tourism Corporation, national and international
travel agencies have been advertising Atiu well. But there is nothing
better than having an insider's view: We would like to help them
in their much appreciated efforts by creating our own means of promotion.
The Society was established for the promotion and encouragement
of the commercial business and welfare activities relating
to tourism on the island of Atiu. Our aim is to promote co-operation
between members and business, to assist them in better furtherance
of their objectives, and to promote the creation of new tourism
related businesses and activities. It is of utmost importance to
us also to assist in the conservation of local culture, of historical
sites, the maintenance of areas of touristic interests and to observe
environmental impact of tourism related activities. We would like
to assist in the marketing of Atiu tourism within the Cook Islands
and abroad, and we will do our best to inform and educate the general
public in the Cook Islands and abroad of the existence of Atiu as
a tourism destination.

Message from the Chairperson
Kia Orana,
Welcome
to Atiu Island in the Cook Islands. Though a very small tourist
destination by international standards, it is yet one of the
most peaceful places in the Pacific. You will find our people warm-hearted,
very friendly and of genuine willingness to share their island paradise
with you. Do come and find it out for yourself!
